Despite performing at numerous large sports arenas in the US, Taylor broke records on the first night of her Australian tour by playing for a crowd of over 74,000 people, a first for her.
During her performance in front of 96,000 fans, Taylor expressed that this show was the largest she had ever done, whether it was during this tour or any other tour she had done before. She highlighted how she felt like a true star that night, seeing so many fans wanting to be a part of the show in Melbourne on Saturday night.
In addition to the massive crowds inside the venue, there were a larger number of individuals gathered outside, despite not having tickets, eagerly awaiting to experience the legendary performance.
Taylor made a statement by dazzling the crowd in her iconic silver and pink leotard, embellished with sparkling jewels. Completing her ensemble with knee-high boots that perfectly matched her outfit. Keeping in line with her tour tradition, Taylor showcased her fashion sense by switching into a stunning gold tasselled minidress, paired with equally glamorous sparkly boots. Embracing different styles and moods for each “Era,” Taylor also flaunted her edgy side in a daring one-legged jumpsuit, featuring vibrant red accents.
She was often seen in stunning attire, like a gorgeous lilac dress with a flowing tulle skirt and a vibrant orange ensemble that stole the spotlight during her performance.
Just like in her previous performances, she delighted the lively audience in Melbourne by performing two unexpected songs. This time around, her song choices were the popular tracks Red and You’re Losing Me.
Afterwards, she unveiled a never-before-seen cover for her upcoming album titled The Tortured Poets Department, sending her fans into a frenzy. The cover, displayed on the screen behind her, featured her lying down with her arms crossed over her head, facing the camera. Amidst the cheers from the crowd, she shared details about the exclusive song titled The Bolter, available only on the vinyl edition of the album. Reflecting on the songwriting process, she expressed, “This album, more than any other, was a lifeline for me. It was a necessary outlet while dealing with personal struggles.”
